Reception Supervisor – GP Practice (Part-Time)
Forge Close Surgery is a small, friendly GP practice in Bromley, and we are looking for an experienced Reception Supervisor to join our dedicated administrative and reception team on a part-time permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous GP reception or healthcare admin experience who enjoys leadership, teamwork, and delivering excellent patient service.

Please note: Only candidates with previous GP Reception or GP Administration experience will be considered.
Working Hours
You will work 22.5 hours per week, covering the following shifts:

Tuesday: 8:30am – 5:00pm (1-hour unpaid lunch)

Wednesday: 10:15am – 6:45pm (1-hour unpaid lunch)

Friday: 8:30am – 5:00pm (1-hour unpaid lunch)
Applicants must be available to work Fridays and to close on Wednesdays until 6:45pm. Flexibility is essential, as you may occasionally be required to adjust hours to cover planned or unplanned absences to ensure reception and admin cover at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management

Supervise reception and admin staff, managing workloads and rotas

Support recruitment, induction, training, and performance management

Conduct one-to-one meetings, appraisals, and return-to-work interviews

Lead team meetings and cascade practice updates

Act as Fire Marshal, First Aider, and Registration Authority (RA) Sponsor
Reception & Administrative Duties

Cover front desk, phone lines, and back-office tasks
-
Manage systems including EMIS, DOCMAN, and Microsoft Office
-
Oversee registrations, referrals, prescriptions, summarising, coding, and claims
-
Handle patient queries and complaints professionally
-
Ensure reception and waiting areas remain welcoming and organised
Quality, Compliance & Governance

Ensure compliance with NHS, CQC, and data protection standards

Support audits, inspections, and significant event reviews
-
Maintain confidentiality and report risks or incidents appropriately
Person Specification
Essential
-
Experience working in a GP surgery or healthcare setting
-
Proven supervisory or leadership experience
-
Strong communication and organisational skills
-
Confidence using EMIS, DOCMAN, and clinical systems
Desirable

Knowledge of NHS systems, QOF, and CQC requirements
-
NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or Customer Service (or equivalent)
