UT Health San Antonio is currently seeking a skilled and motivated Carpenter-Intermediate to join our Facilities Management team in San Antonio, Texas. This full-time, on-site position is ideal for an experienced journeyman carpenter who takes pride in quality craftsmanship and maintaining safe, functional facilities.
Job Overview
Under general supervision, the Carpenter-Intermediate is responsible for performing skilled carpentry work involving construction, renovation, repair, and maintenance of buildings and facilities across the UT Health San Antonio campus.
Key Responsibilities

Perform carpentry work for new construction, alterations, repairs, and maintenance
-
Install, repair, and maintain floors (VCT, ceramic tile), roofs, walls, stairways, doors, windows, cabinets, and ceiling tiles

Repair restroom partitions, cabinets, and other structural components
-
Locate, seal, and repair roof leaks and building transitions
-
Perform industrial roof repairs and flashing installation (sheet metal/lead)

Operate power saws, planers, jointers, and hand tools safely and effectively
-
Select appropriate materials, cut to size, sand, and finish surfaces
-
Maintain records of repairs and work locations

Clean, sharpen, repair, and maintain tools and equipment

Perform preventive maintenance on all assigned equipment
-
Assist with estimating labor time and material requirements

Support other trades, including plumbing and electrical, as needed
-
Follow all safety, environmental, and institutional guidelines

Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
-
High school diploma or GED
-
Minimum three (3) years of related carpentry experience
-
Strong knowledge of construction materials, tools, and methods
-
Experience repairing VCT and ceramic tile flooring
-
Knowledge of industrial roofing systems and waterproofing
-
Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately
-
Proficiency with large and small power tools and hand tools
-
Strong verbal and written communication skills
-
Commitment to workplace safety and compliance standards
Licenses & Certifications

Valid Texas Driver’s License with a clean driving record (required)
