About the Role

We are currently recruiting a Casual Youth Worker to join the Airplay Youth Support Programme at RAF Benson, delivered by One YMCA in partnership with the RAF Benevolent Fund (RAFBF). This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people from RAF families.

Airplay is the RAFBF’s flagship youth programme, operating across 23 RAF stations in the UK. It provides safe spaces, fun activities, and developmental opportunities for young people aged 5 to 18, helping them grow in confidence, skills, and wellbeing.

As a Casual Youth Worker, you’ll play a vital role in delivering engaging sessions, supporting young people, and contributing to a welcoming and inclusive community environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver fun, inclusive, and engaging youth sessions for children and young people aged 5–18

  • Support the planning and delivery of activities including arts, sports, games, and social sessions

  • Build positive relationships with young people, families, and colleagues

  • Work collaboratively with the Airplay team and RAF Community Support staff

  • Ensure safeguarding, safety, and wellbeing in line with YMCA and RAFBF policies

  • Support the development and delivery of holiday programmes tailored to community needs


About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Positive, energetic, and enthusiastic about working with young people

  • Able to inspire, motivate, and engage children from diverse backgrounds

  • A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills

  • Flexible and available to work evenings and additional hours during school holidays

  • A respectful and collaborative team player

Experience in youth work, education, childcare, or community-based roles is desirable. Relevant youth work or childcare qualifications are an advantage, though a willingness to work towards these is also welcomed.


Safeguarding & Eligibility

  • Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available)

  • A Basic or Enhanced DBS check may be required following a conditional offer
